Mental Health Exhibition
The mental health project was an insight into various mental disorders to find how they worked in a medical sense and how it felt to live with that condition. My partner (Nicholas) and I researched night terrors, a sleep disorder. Night terrors are nightmares that occur in NREM3 instead of REM sleep. This causes the chemical that paralyzes you in your sleep to not generate, leading to movement similar to sleepwalking.
Obviously, my partner and I learned about night terrors and what caused them, but we also learned much about how to treat it. In children, it is untreatable for the most part, but in adults, it is typically caused by high stress so the best way to eliminate the terrors is to eliminate the source stress. This can be done with our art activity or with a
I did not like the exhibition and I think planning could've been better. It was setup that every guest would get a character card with a condition on it and they were supposed to find that condition among unlabeled booths. However, our booth was never visited/used. Everyone had a destination, and if we weren't it, then they're gone. I would've converted the exhibition into a simple booth-based exhibition with no added variables.
